Tai'an, the famous Chinese city with abundant historical and cultural heritages, gained its name because of its location at the foot of Mount Tai. Mount Tai is inscribed in the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Sites List and is a World Geo-park. In the past, it was known as the No. 1 of the Top 5 Chinese Mounts. The Chinese emperors of different dynasties made worships and sacrifices on Mount Tai. At the same time, they also built temples and statues, and made inscriptions on the stones. Ancient literate people climbed Mount Tai while composing poems and essays about the mount. They left behind them a large number of ancient building clusters and inscribed tablets and stones, which are of significant value for studying the traditional Chinese culture.

Climate: Tai'an has typical mountain climate. At the top of the mount, the temperature is often 7-8 degrees centigrade lower than that at the foot. The average temperature in summer ranges between 18 and 29 degrees centigrade and that in the autumn ranges between 15 and 26 degrees.

Best tour season: May-November, during which the climate is cool and comforting, suitable for mountain climbing.

Transport: Tai'an does not have airport. The city has 2 railway stations, reaching major cities and ports in China and in the province. Besides, it has more than 40 public bus routes. Cable-ways and tour bus serviceare available in the Mount Tai Scenic Area.

Recommended scenic spots: The 18 Bends, the Southern Heavenly Gate, the Dai Temple, the Sun Viewing Peak and the Peak of the Heavenly Emperor, etc.

Qufu, known as the hometown to Confucius, is the birthplace of Confucius thoughts. It is also the place where decedents of Confucius live, thus having the dense atmosphere of culture. Teachers and educated people have always been respected in China. In this way, many buildings and cultural heritages have been left over in Qufu. The Confucius Temple, the Confucius Residence and Confucius Cemetery have been listed as the World Cultural Heritages.

Climate: Qufu has four distinctive seasons. It has the highest temperature in July in which the average temperature stands at 27.4 degrees centigrade; the lower temperature happens in January, when the average temperature is 1.4 degrees centigrade.

Best tour season: June to September, during which the temperature is comforting and the sunshine is abundant, which make it proper for tour.

Transport: Qufu has no airport in it. It is 160km away from Jinan International Airport. It has Qufu Railway Station with the high-speed bullet trains leading to Jinan, Tai'an and other tourist cities as well as Beijing and Shanghai. Starting with Jinan, it takes only 30 minutes to reach Qufu on the high-speed bullet train.

Recommended scenic spots: Confucius Temple, the Confucius Residence and Confucius Cemetery.
